Family Counselling Therapy Services
Family Counselling is for families whose relationships and/or communication with each other have become strained, distant, or violent. This is for people and families who want to bring the family closer together or simply learn how to function more effectively in one that is struggling.
I am trained and experienced in working with Families and extensive experience working with Children and Youth which is especially helpful when engaging the younger members of families. The goal of Family Counselling is to discover the unique challenges and strengths of each Family System and then use that knowledge to build a more harmonious home or relational environment. There are many ways to accomplish work with families I am open to discovering what works best for each family. In some cases, the entire family will be present for all or most counselling sessions. In other cases, there will be different groups of people present for each meeting. I will discuss the options with you and negotiate the best way to work with your family.
I believe that each family has its own long-standing culture. I will take some time to get to know what is important to you and your family before we begin advancing ideas about how to help. We will explore your values, strengths, and a bit of history, before we focus in too much on the problems and how we can help you make changes. There is such richness in a family system I want to collaboratively build goals with each family to provide the chance to understand differently what may have been going on, as well as build new skills and practices that will respectfully, and positively influence each family for years to come.
Some of the issues that bring people to Family Counselling include concerns about Addiction, Violence, Communication issues, Behavioural issues, Mental Health, Special Needs, Grief and Loss, Life Transitions, and many other challenges. If you are wondering whether the Family Counselling services I offer might be right for you, please give me a call and ask me your questions.
